University professor Carlos Moreno is an expert in the smart control of complex systems. Fuelled by a passion for science, progress, and creativity in all of its forms, Mr. Moreno’s cross-disciplinary work promotes the convergence between the sciences and the diverse stakeholders of innovation ecosystems from start-ups to major corporations.
Mr. Moreno is a pioneer in the field of ambient intelligence. The company he founded, Sinovia (a spin-off of his research lab), develops breakthrough technologies for smart cities. His work has led to a novel approach to the smart city: the Living City. He is one of the movement’s best-known proponents, both in France and internationally.
Mr. Moreno also holds seats on several expert and scientific committees, such as France’s National Instituts Carnot Steering Committee and the CSFRS, France’s Higher Council for Strategic Research and Training.
He also contributes to the general interest by helping to disseminate science, technology, and their applications through national and international scientific events, which he often chairs or coordinates, and through media relations, both in France and internationally. After seeing his start-up, Sinovia, through to maturity, he moved on to a position as Scientific Advisor to the CEO of Cofely Ineo, A GDF Suez company, and continues to support innovators in their quest to create value.
